The Mopion Sandbank is the
quintessential “deserted island”, with only a single thatched
hut in the middle of a sandbar 100 feet around.
There is no way that you can travel all the way to The
Grenadines and miss this photo opportunity.

People often bring a cooler and spend the entire day
lounging around on the island, soaking up the sun, or wading in
the shallow water. There is also great snorkeling around the island, but
then again, great snorkeling is somewhat of a commodity in The Grenadines.
There are two ways to
visit Mopion. You
could make a rather lengthy dinghy trip from PSV, or you could
anchor your boat right there. Be aware that Mopion is surrounded by a very well developed
series of reefs. You must be absolutely sure where you
are at all times, or risk the same fate as the “three hour
cruise club” aboard the Minnow.
Many people use
Mopion as a lunch stop en-route to another destination.
This makes sense if you are not planning to overnight in
PSV.
