So far, I have only
discussed the physical aspects of the BVI. There is
however, one factor of every trip that provides an even
greater reward - the friends you meet along the way.
The Dudes Cruise afforded
me the opportunity to meet three other sailing enthusiasts, all
from different backgrounds and parts of the continent, to share
in one great experience. Without question, the humorous exchanges, the
enjoyment of each new experience, the stories, and the BS, was by far the
best part of the
trip. I thank Hervé for inviting me to participate in
this great adventure - it was a real genuine gift that I
will never forget. I am also grateful for the
opportunity to briefly see life
through a
real Dude’s eyes,
and JD provided that fascinating portal. Finally,
Doctor Ray reminded us all that you can be very serious in
your profession and still enjoy the best the Islands have to
offer.
We also had the opportunity
to meet and exchange ideas with many local residents.
I never tire of listening to these people and their views of
the world. Without them, the BVI would only be a
disjointed collection of sea, sun, and sand.
Finally, as a result of this
trip, I have “met” and exchanged views with many
new friends on the TravelTalkOnline
BVI forum. I hope that I have the opportunity to meet
some of them them over time and enjoy a Rummer or two at some
anchorage, perhaps waiting for the appearance of the Green Flash.
Without question, it is the
people you meet along the way that provide The Greater
Reward.
